Dear Supporters,
On November 7, 2022, the FDA sent the Soft Lights Foundation an Interim Response to our petition to regulate the directed energy visible radiation from LEDs. The FDA stated that our petition raises issues that need further study. We can only hope that this means that the FDA is starting to realize how serious and wide-spread this issue is. Here is the Interim Response Letter: http://www.softlights.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/FDA-2022-P-1151-Interim-Petition-Response.pdf
Additionally, we received a response from the Consumer Product Safety Commission stating that the CPSC defers authority to regulate LED visible radiation to the FDA. http://www.softlights.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/CPSC-Jurisdiction-Response.pdf
We have not received any additional responses from NHTSA regarding jurisdiction and authority to regulate LED vehicle headlights.
We have been unable to get any member of Congress to care about this issue. You can help our cause by calling your Congressperson or Senator and demanding regulation of LED vehicle headlights. You can also submit public comments on our FDA petition: https://www.regulations.gov/document/FDA-2022-P-1151-0001 Let the FDA know how concerned you are about your eyes and your life.
Sincerely,
Mark Baker
President
