Petition updateBan Blinding Headlights and Save Lives!Ban Blinding Headlights! FHWA Rejection

Dear Supporters,

We filed a discrimination complaint with the US Department of Justice because LED strobing/flashing lights trigger seizures, migraines, anxiety, and eye injury.  The DOJ referred the case to the Federal Highway Administration.  After months of ignoring us, the FHWA finally responded and informed us that the issue of discrimination and LED lights is too "complex" for them, and so the FHWA is going to ignore the issue.  You can read the rejection letter here:  https://www.softlights.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Baker-CL-2022-0375.pdf

The US government is filled with people who are not capable of addressing complex issues, so they choose to ignore the problem rather than finding someone who can handle complex issues.  This is unacceptable.  You can let US Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg know that he should hire people who are more capable and more willing to protect the civil rights and safety of the public: SecretaryScheduler19@dot.gov

This is our third rejection from a federal agency regarding regulation of LED products (EPA, OSHA, and FHWA).  I have notified the FDA about these rejection letters so that the FDA understands clearly that every other federal agency is relying on the FDA to set the comfort, health, and safety standards for LED visible radiation.  You may comment on our petition to the FDA here: (https://www.regulations.gov/document/FDA-2022-P-1151-0001)  Let the FDA know how these LED vehicle headlights are affecting your life.

Sincerely,
Mark Baker
