Dear Supporters,

The Soft Lights Foundation has submitted three petitions to NHTSA requesting that NHTSA send notices of non-compliance to Ford, Tesla, and Rivian for their non-compliant LED headlights.  On September 30, 2022, we received notice from NHTSA that they have received our petitions.  http://www.softlights.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/NHTSA-220815-006_LAK-.pdf

NHTSA will now either reject our petitions, or open an investigation.  We believe that we have proven to NHTSA that LED headlights do not comply with federal safety standards and that vehicles with LED headlights must therefore be recalled.  However, we have not way of predicting the government's actions and must wait for their response.

In the meantime, I have scheduled a meeting this coming week with a staffer for a US Congressman to discuss NHTSA's failure to protect us from LED headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, LED brake lights, etc., and I will be requesting that Congress investigate.

Sincerely,
Mark Baker
President
Soft Lights Foundation
