Dear Supporters,

This week we received a communication from Ann Carlson who is the Chief Legal Counsel for the U.S. National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.  For the first time, she has acknowledged that we exist.  Unfortunately, she didn't act like she was going to take any action.

LED headlights are illegal. This is a bold, but true statement.  NHTSA regulation FMVSS-108 applies only to spatially homogeneous radiation, not directed energy spatially heterogeneous radiation from LEDs.  The carmakers have falsely self-certified that LED headlights comply with federal safety regulations.

Now is the time for each supporter in the USA to call their one Congressperson and two Senators and say something like, "LED headlights cause epileptic seizures, migraines, eye damage and dangerous glare.  LED headlights do not comply with FMVSS-108, and therefore are illegal.  I know that Ann Carlson of NHTSA is aware of this issue, but is not taking action.  I want Congress to hold NHTSA accountable and find out from Ann Carlson how this problem is going to get fixed."
