U.S. Citizens Should Not Wait Behind Unlawful Immigration Cases

The Issue

A United States citizen who legally marries abroad and files Form I-130 to bring their spouse home should not be forced to wait years while other immigration cases, including unlawful or discretionary cases, move through the system faster.

American-born citizens follow the law, pay the required fees, submit complete documentation, and comply with every requirement. Yet many families remain separated for excessive periods due to USCIS backlogs and misaligned processing priorities.

Family unity for U.S. citizens should be a top priority. Lawful petitions filed by American citizens should be processed efficiently and fairly, not delayed behind cases that do not carry the same legal standing.

We urge Congressman Jimmy Patronis and Congress to take action to:

Prioritize I-130 petitions filed by United States citizens
Reduce unnecessary backlogs and delays for petitions filed by United States Citizens
Improve accountability and processing efficiency at USCIS

This is about prioritizing Americans, respecting lawful immigration, and restoring common-sense priorities.

Sign to support faster I-130 processing for U.S. citizens and their spouses.
