Legislators are now considering a bill that would ban the dangerous practice of fracking throughout the state of Florida. This would be a huge step towards directly protecting our aquifer and drinking water, and preventing the burning of more fossil fuels that contribute to climate change, rising sea levels, and saltwater intrusion into the aquifer. But we need your help to make sure the bill gets passed. States like California and New York have already banned fracking, now it’s our turn. So far the bill has passed through the Senate, but now we have to get it through the House. Republican Holly Raschein is the chairman of the House Environmental Committee – let’s urge her to do everything in her power to get the bill passed. Please call both her district office (305) 453-1202 and her capitol office (850) 717-5120 and say: “My name is ____ and I am calling to ask Representative Raschein to do everything in her power to advance the House bill to ban fracking in the state of Florida. This process pollutes our water, is dangerous for the earth, and cements us into a fossil fuel-dependent future when we should be switching to renewables. I’m asking Rep Raschein to please do her duty and protect the state of Florida and future generations from the toxic effects of this dangerous practice.” Once you've called, leave a comment to let us know how it went! Thank you, Tim Canova ProgressForAll.org
