Tyson Foods has made some progress in recent months, from launching its first vegetarian meat (although the product still contains cruel eggs) to investing in vegan seafood. But we can’t let the poultry titan off the hook for the egregious abuses of birds we’ve documented through undercover footage. TAKE ACTION: Leave a quick, polite comment on Tyson’s Raised & Rooted brand’s latest Instagram post, urging the poultry giant to end the worst abuses of birds and shift to 100% vegan protein!

After teasing a plant-based protein endeavor and telling Compassion Over Killing that it was “looking at plant protein as the future of protein,” Tyson Foods’ new Raised & Rooted brand falls short of the mark. The brand’s debut products include nuggets that, while meatless, contain egg whites, as well as a blended beef burger.

Then, Tyson truly made waves for sea animals with its new investment in New Wave Foods, maker of vegan shrimp. This left us wondering: Is Tyson finally turning the tide for animals?

Unfortunately, however, the poultry company continues to treat birds with egregious cruelty by breeding them for painful rapid growth. COK’s investigation exposed the devastating effects of this cruel genetic manipulation for extremely fast, unnatural growth: Birds languished from a variety of illnesses and deformities, and many couldn’t walk because of debilitating leg injuries. At under two months old, these baby birds were already crippled—and trapped inside their own morbidly obese bodies.

It’s clear that Tyson is beginning to take notice of the growing demand for ethical options, but refuses to sever ties with the barbaric meat industry.

Tell Tyson that consumers are flocking from animal ag’s cruelty: Leave a quick, polite Instagram comment for the Raised & Rooted brand! Here’s a sample to get you started: “You’ve started making progress, but consumers want fully vegan protein, Tyson! End cruel rapid growth in birds & shift to compassionate vegan options!”
