Tyson Foods recently appointed a new President of McDonald’s Global Business to focus more heavily on its relationship with one of its biggest customers, fast food chain McDonald’s. Tell Doug Ramsey that consumers are flocking from cruelty, and it’s time for both companies to do better for birds. Send him a quick, polite email TODAY (using our sample message below)!
Just over a year ago, Compassion Over Killing’s investigation exposed horrific abuse in Tyson’s supply chain. Though the farm was not a McDonald’s supplier, chickens across the country suffer similar abuse in factory farms.
Since the investigation, Tyson, the nation’s largest poultry producer, has taken some promising steps: increasing its investment in vegan company Beyond Meat, introducing its own plant-based bowls, and announcing plans to develop its own alternative proteins.
Yet it has refused to address a massive source of suffering in its supply chain: breeding birds to grow so unnaturally large, so quickly that their legs often break under the weight of their own morbidly obese bodies.
Meanwhile, a powerful coalition of animal protection organizations, including COK, have banded together to campaign against the suffering of chickens in McDonald’s own supply chain.
Last fall, Tyson snapped up McDonald’s major chicken nugget supplier, Keystone Foods, positioning itself as an even bigger McDonald’s supplier. And in January, Tyson named Doug Ramsey the new President of McDonald’s Global Business, demonstrating an increased commitment to the massive fast food chain.
As millions of consumers wake up to the miserable lives of birds in the chicken industry, Tyson and McDonald’s both have an opportunity to end the worst abuses of birds in their supply chains and leap ahead into the plant-based revolution--instead of being left in the dust.
Spread your wings for these birds by sending a quick email to Tyson’s President of Global McDonald’s Business, Doug Ramsey! Click here or email doug.ramsey@tyson.com using our sample below (or your own polite message):
SAMPLE MESSAGE:
Dear Mr. Ramsey,
I am writing as a concerned consumer to urge you to use your influence as President of McDonald’s Global Business at Tyson Foods to encourage both companies to end the worst abuses of chickens, who are bred to grow so unnaturally, so quickly, that their legs often break under their own morbidly obese bodies. Millions of consumers are flocking from this cruelty in favor of plant protein, and McDonald’s and Tyson both have an opportunity to leap ahead into the plant-based revolution--instead of being left in the dust. Thank you.
Sincerely,
(YOUR NAME)
