In its fourth-quarter earnings report this week, according to Reuters, Tyson’s sales “missed Wall Street estimates, as the top U.S. meat processor was hit by lower demand for chicken, sending shares down nearly 7 percent.” This comes as no surprise, when even the National Chicken Council is reporting that nearly half of US consumers are choosing plant protein over chicken meat and that the way birds are treated is the #1 factor poultry companies should address to impact consumer purchases.
