In Tyson’s third-quarter earnings report this week, the company noted that “sales volume decreased ... due to sluggish demand for certain chicken products.” This comes as no surprise, when even the National Chicken Council is reporting that nearly half of consumers are choosing plant protein over chicken meat and that the way birds are treated is the #1 factor poultry companies should address to impact consumer purchases.
