Yesterday, you overwhelmed the Tennessee State Funding Board with calls asking it to reconsider funding Tyson’s cruelty through a $20 million incentives package--and many of you were asked to email in your concerns to make sure they’re logged. If you haven’t yet done so, please email state.local.finance@cot.tn.gov using our sample below to send a loud and clear message to the state of Tennessee that public money shouldn’t be used to fund suffering!
Last fall, Tyson announced plans for a new slaughterhouse in Humboldt, Tennessee--and now the state’s funding board is investing $20 million in this cruel project. But these state officials might not be aware that a recent Compassion Over Killing investigation exposed horrific suffering due to Tyson’s breeding of birds to grow so unnaturally large, so quickly that their fragile legs often collapse under their own morbidly obese bodies.
Please email the Tennessee State Funding Board at state.local.finance@cot.tn.gov to ask it to reconsider this incentives package and instead fund compassionate plant protein! Use our sample below:
SAMPLE MESSAGE: “As a concerned citizen, I urge the funding board to reconsider its $20 million incentives package for poultry giant Tyson Foods. A recent Compassion Over Killing investigation exposed horrific suffering due to Tyson’s breeding of birds to grow so unnaturally large, so quickly that their fragile legs often collapse under their own morbidly obese bodies. Millions of consumers like me are flocking from this cruelty -- and toward kinder, sustainable plant protein. Please send a strong message to Tyson that public money won’t be used to fund animal suffering by withdrawing this funding, and consider investing instead in plant-based foods. Thank you.”
Please email campaigns@cok.net with any response you get--and don’t forget to keep sharing our petition (http://bit.ly/TysonExposedAgain) on social media. Thank you for speaking up for birds!
