Twin Decks Legacy Project at Smith Point PLEASE SEE THE UPDATE!

The Issue

Within the next few years, Suffolk County is going to demolish the original
Smith Point Bridge.

A new bridge will be built slightly west of its current location.

The Twin Decks Legacy Project could save taxpayers an estimated $1.1
million. ✅

The vision of this Legacy Project is to preserve sections of the demolished
bridge on the Shirley and Fire Island sides of the bay, respectively.

Renderings above show how the Twin Decks might look after retrofitting the
original bridge’s edges.

Each side would be renovated as promenade-style observation decks that
measure approx. 42’ X 180’ or 7,000 sq ft each.
