Protect Our Kids At Tustin Legacy Update
Hello,
Last night nearly 60 members of the community stood up for the children of Heritage Elementary. Through impassioned speeches and personal stories, the community advocated for those whose voices weren't all represented. They were supported by three completely full rooms of residents.
Unfortunately, the decision was made before anyone stepped into the City Council chambers to proceed with a homeless shelter steps away from our children's school. Several council members even refused to look at residents as they spoke.
The Tustin City Council was arrogant and has lacked any level of transparency throughout this process. While we remain disappointed in their decision we remain undeterred in fighting them. We have to fight for our children and our community when the City Council won't.
Tonight we will be holding a strategy meeting at Columbus Square Clubhouse (15214 Columbus Square Tustin, CA 92782) at 7:00pm. The intent is to explore options and then form sub-groups to tackle them. There have been several excellent ideas that have come out.
We will also be establishing accounting standards and transparency around donations. No donations have been disbursed thus far and when they will we will ensure complete transparency.
The next steps in this fight will be more expensive than the prior campaign as we will have legal and other fees. We encourage anyone who can to donate to our Go Fund Me Page at: https://www.gofundme.com/protect-our-kids-at-tustin-legacy
Thank you.
