Protect Our Kids At Tustin Legacy Update

Thank you all for your support. Tonight is the night that we've all been working towards. Tonight we encourage everyone to come out to support the children of Tustin at the City Council meeting. As a reminder it's being held at:

• Tonight, Tuesday, November 6th at 7:00 pm 
• 300 Centennial Way Tustin, CA 92780

For those of you who attended last nights meeting at Heritage Elementary can attest to there were several disturbing facts that came out:

1. The Tustin Chief of Police cannot guarantee the safety and security of the children. They will not have police on the Heritage campus to protect the children and freely admitted that 'it wouldn't take long' for someone leaving the homeless shelter to make their way to Heritage. 
2. This is an open shelter. Anyone can leave at any time. If you have a bike, car or are taking a bus or getting a ride you can leave at any time. This is NOT a lock down facility. 
3. The Tustin Chief of Police stated on video that he 'cannot guarentee you 100% that every person that comes to this shelter is crime free, arrest free, drug-free. As someone else pointed out you won't have anyone in the shelter' if that was enforced. 
4. This entire self-imposed deadline by the city is just so that they can enforce a city ordinance. They don't have to. They just want to enforce it by that date. The could put our children first and simply delay the ordinance until they find a more suitable location. The City Attorney admitted as much. 
5. This is why both candidates on the ballot for Tustin City Council oppose this. This is why members of the Tustin United School Board oppose this. This is why two former mayors oppose this. This is why the PTA and the community oppose this. Tell Tustin City Council to put children and their safety first.
