To my fellow community members and signers of this petition, with deep sadness and regret I am officially closing this petition.

It is with deep disappointment that I must announce that Alex Wilson, our Ward 13 councillor, has entirely refused to communicate with us or address the concerns raised in this petition.

During the 2022 election campaign, Alex Wilson actively encouraged me to start this petition, promising a commitment to championing our community’s voice. However, once elected, those promises evaporated and a constant chase for communication began. Despite multiple attempts to arrange meetings, send correspondence, and deliver the voices of the constituents who signed this petition, we have been met with silence and avoidance.

As noted in my November 2025 update, I secured a meeting after extensive effort, including countless emails and phone calls, in June of 2025. During this meeting, I requested transparency regarding exactly when and to whom the petition had been presented. Alex Wilson agreed to provide a short statement for me to share with the signers. However, no specific details on the who and when were shared verbally during our discussion either. Unfortunately, that promise was not kept. Despite numerous follow-up emails to his assistants, the communication lines went cold once again.

A petition is only as effective as the willingness of our elected representatives to listen to the people they serve. When a councillor abandons their promise to engage with their own community, the democratic process breaks down.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who signed, shared, and supported this cause. While we are concluding this specific effort today, our community’s voice remains as important as ever.
