Resolution to Establish Equity Fee at Tulane University.

Resolution to Establish Equity Fee at Tulane University.
The Issue
We, Les Griots Violets, are a coalition of students at Tulane University from both the Undergraduate and Graduate schools. Our purpose is to organize around the issues at Tulane University concerning Black students with the understanding that when Black people are free, everyone is free.
One issue we are organizing around is the equity fee. The purpose of the equity fee is to address the lack of proper funding to support black students and other students from marginalized communities. This includes under funding for the Center of Academic Equity, the Community Engagement Advocacy Program, the Goldman Center, the Multicultural Council (MCC), the Gender and Sexuality Advisory Council (GSAC), and the Carolyn Barber Pierre Center of Intercultural Life. The liberation of our most marginalized students will only strengthen our university and create a better environment for all who aspire to earn a degree from Tulane University. Tulane has been negligent, which makes it the responsibility of the students to advocate for one another.
We are asking that Tulane students pay an annual Equity Fee of $240 per student to be allocated to the Center for Academic Equity, the Carolyn Barber Pierre Center of Intercultural Life, the Community Engagement Advocacy Program, the Goldman Center and the MCC & GSAC organizations.
