STOP MOD Land South of Discovery Drive Development and SAVE the woodlands
The Issue
As a residential homeowner on McArthur Drive, Kings Hill and the Co-Ordinator, Friends of the Earth Kings Hill Group I was shocked, appalled and distraught to receive a leaflet from Litchfield’s the private developer on 24th April 2020, outlining proposals to build 65 dwellings on 7.5 hectares of land owned by Tregothnan Estate.
This precious site is directly behind my house, I have the pleasure and benefit of seeing the beautiful trees, of which many are native from my garden and rear windows, it consists of ancient woodland, secondary woodland and scrub forming a vital ecosystem and an important natural habitat for an array of wildlife including protected bats, Adder snakes and Dormice.
I like many of my neighbours do not want to lose the invaluable trees, the sights and sounds of our local wildlife and stunning flower and fauna this site provides Including the protected Bluebell.
It’s imperative we all sign this petition in order to STOP planning permission and save this important site. We are in the midst of a global meltdown as such trees are the only source available to reverse the Co2 emission damage already created by greedy landowners such as Tregothnan.
My husband and I, like the majority of homeowners on McArthur Drive, Clearheart Lane, Francis Lane, Charlotte Drive, Quindell Avenue and Atlas Close bought our homes primarily for the location, being the perimeter of Liberty’s/Prologis land & the bridle path leading to the stunning ancient woodland and open green space in question.
We DO NOT want to lose this all important biodiverse site to yet more homes which could be easily built elsewhere in neighbouring areas within the county on brown fields.
West Malling Is already over polluted and over populated, as such the local doctor’s surgeries are over whelmed and oversubscribed, therefore ascertaining an appointment is near on impossible and registering as a new patient simply impossible. Our local West Malling village simply cannot cope with the volume of traffic nor can’t provide enough parking facilities for the ever growing community due to private developers destroying our beautiful green belt for financial gain, the infrastructure is at breaking point.
Kings Hill and West Malling are already over populated forcing our local wildlife out of their natural habitats, We must take action to protect what’s left, we must make a stand and be heard.
Please sign the petition, STOP the proposed development and save our ancient woodland, open green spaces and precious wildlife.
