Last week we walked out of our meeting with Lord Mayor Clover Moore, and it was a massive success!

Because of your incredible backing, the Council could not ignore us. They admitted that the Hayes Road and Mentmore Avenue intersection has become incredibly "tricky" and dangerous. Most importantly, they have committed to actively investigating and reviewing the site. This is a huge milestone, but we are not stopping there.
 
🚌 The Root Cause: The Banned Right Turn & The Empty Bus Lane
During the meeting, we raised a major structural issue driving the reckless cut-through traffic on Hayes Road: the banned right-hand turn for westbound cars from Gardeners Road onto Botany Road.
We have since done the research and discovered something surprising. There is an exclusive right-turning lane at that intersection reserved strictly for buses—but no standard, timetabled public bus routes actually use it. It sits completely empty every day while hundreds of frustrated drivers are forced to bypass it and drag-race down Hayes Road instead.
 
✉️ What We Have Since Done : 
 
Sent a formal follow-up to Clover Moore: Locking in their verbal admissions, reinforcing our physical traffic data, and demanding a raised Wombat crossing alongside this financial year’s planned raingarden works.

Written an urgent brief to Ron Hoenig MP (Member for Heffron): Requesting he use his state parliamentary powers to force Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to open that empty bus lane to general cars, pulling cut-through traffic off residential Rosebery streets for good.
