Waiheke ferry users share the pain of cancellations and no-shows by Fullers with Devonport folk. In this morning's peak period there were 4 cancellations on the Devonport service. I sought clarification from Auckland Transport after Fullers said the delays were all AT's fault. Keep in mind both services are'exempt services' with no direct AT oversight of performance, hence the petition to make changes (see link below).
AT reported back as follows;
"The issues this morning were as a result of Kea developing a fault first thing today, which led to 4 cancellations and a couple of services running late as replacement vessels were sourced.
The commencement of works to renew Pier 1B were not a factor in the service disruption.
We do understand that some skippers on Fullers360 services this morning were utilising the pier 1B works as a reason for delay and late running. This was an incorrect statement for them to make, and was not approved messaging.
Fullers360 have since addressed this with their communications team and through their own channels – in that there was no connection between the service disruption and 1B."
