The issue

King Street and Enmore Road are the heart of our community, but they're dominated by concrete and asphalt. Limited shade, minimal greenery, and streets designed primarily for vehicles make the area hotter, less comfortable to walk or cycle, and leave few places for people to stop, rest, and connect.

Project K-Shift is calling on Inner West Council, City of Sydney, and NSW Minister for Transport John Graham to work together to deliver wider footpaths, more tree canopy, safer cycling infrastructure, and vibrant public spaces along King Street and Enmore Road.

We want to see:

·        Wider, safer footpaths and improved cycling infrastructure

·        More seating and welcoming public spaces

·        More street trees, canopy cover, rain gardens and native plantings

·        Streets designed for people first, while supporting local businesses and access

Greener streets are cooler, healthier, and more resilient. They improve biodiversity, reduce urban heat, encourage walking and cycling, and create vibrant public spaces where people want to spend time. Cities around the world have shown that transforming streets into destinations can increase foot traffic, strengthen local businesses, and build stronger communities.

King Street and Enmore Road deserve to be more than a traffic sewer; they should be thriving public spaces that reflect the creativity, diversity, and community spirit of our neighborhood.

By signing this petition, you're supporting a vision for streets that are greener, safer, cooler, and more enjoyable for everyone.

Together we can transform King Street and Enmore Road into places where people, and nature, can thrive. Please sign and share to reclaim our streets.
