Good Morning,
Remember when Mayor Khan was elected in June this year?
He said "The closer decisions are taken to the people they impact, the better those decisions are".
Sounds right, right?
Well we (The "Re-Think CS11 Campaign Team" - all volunteers) have been working together to campaign on your behalf to ensure that TfL do not get away with inflicting the same kind of congestion & pollution worsening schemes that they have implemented across London so far.
So what are we doing now?
Now we are talking directly to the most senior officials at City Hall to ensure that they (and TfL) respect The Mayor's wishes to ensure that local people's views are fully considered and that the decisions taken on all schemes across London are done so in the best interest of locals.
I know you may be concerned about the prospect of imminent traffic congestion and disruption from TfL's proposed "CS11 Cycle Superhighway Scheme from Swiss Cottage to The West End but I would like to reassure you that there is still a lot of work to be done by TfL before any final decision is taken.
This work includes coming up with proper, adequate and substantial design changes to the planned scheme which will provide solutions to the many problems of unacceptable traffic displacement ("reassignment") on residential roads along the route.
In the meantime please do have a look at our new and improved "Re-Think CS11 Website" at www.cs11.london where you can see clear visual representation and explanations of the varying levels of support / opposition to this scheme - I'm sure you will draw your own conclusions....
Please help us with the legal fight against TfL
TfL has refused to model for the impact of HS2. The result is that residents do not have an accurate sense of the real impact of CS11 when combined with the effects of HS2. We have received legal advice that TfL have a positive obligation to model for projects which will have a cumulative impact on their plans and if they don’t there may be grounds to bring legal proceedings against them by way of judicial review. We have had legal advice on other aspects of challenge against TfL. We have, therefore, launched a crowdfunding endeavour to raise £150,000 towards legal fees in the event that TfL recommends this scheme and we decide to issue judicial review proceedings. The site is below:
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/cs11London
Do help us to raise the funds so that we are ready should TfL decide to recommend this scheme for approval and/or decide to implement it. If TfL scraps this scheme so that we do not need to issue proceedings, then funds will be returned to donors.
Thank you again for all of your support, ideas, e-mails, suggestions, contributions and appearances at our numerous public meetings - it is an honour to help you and a privilege to ensure that we continue helping to keep our City as "The Best City in the world."
Enjoy your weekend and keep a look out for further updates,
Kind regards
Daniel
