I have just been part of an hour-long meeting with traffic experts and lead members at TFL and RBKC discussing various options to that will make pedestrian crossing safe at the Battersea Bridge/Cheyne Walk junction.

Wow! When you get close to the detail of such matters you realise just how complicated it all is. Finding a solution that will meet all requirements at such a busy junction (improve safety for pedestrians, keep traffic moving, stop local residents blowing a fuse), is indeed a challenge.

TFL has presented two options, each with multiple elements. These were discussed in detail today. Certain key aspects were thrashed through and either discounted, or improved. It was a highly valuable and collaborative brainstorming session.

All parties are now working from the progress made during this discussion to arrive at more detailed options that will be able to go to public consultation.

I remain encouraged that the right solution can be found and positive change for pedestrians will come to Battersea Bridge. (RM: 2/2/20)
