DON'T BOTHER DURGA, OK?

The mother who hopes for a boy in the first pregnancy but will be ok with a girl in the second, please don’t bother Durga this year. 

The father who is embarrassed or disgusted with the thought of his daughter menstruating, please don’t step inside the Kamakhya temple ever. 

The brother who believes his sister needs to be home while he can party all night, be very scared this Kaal Ratri because Kaali will be out in the dark all by herself.

The grandmother who tells a girl to give up the sweetmeat for her brother, do visualise Chandraghanta’s justice. 

The husband who thinks what does a woman know? be ready for Shiva’s wrath for insulting Saraswati.

The men who believe a bar is not a place for a good woman should find why Shiva lay down at Kali’s feet when she was intoxicated on blood. 

Men who look at women as commodities in buses, on roads, at workplaces. 

Men who get together to make women uncomfortable with words and gestures.

Men who do none of this, appear cultured, talk smooth but mistake a woman’s love for her weakness.

Men who mutilate a woman’s dignity, her soul, her mind in the name of love don’t you dare name Durga. 

Women who can't bother showing solidarity and ignoring petitions like this.. forwarding silly jokes but not this. 

Don’t light the diya. 

Don’t sing her hymns.

Don’t fast. 

Spare us the sham.

Feminism has been kept in check for ages. Which was celebrated by our Veda and Purana. This paradox must end.

Till it does, please don't bother Durga with this noise.
