The nauseating consistency with which cases of Rapes are reportedly happening is mounting to an emergency.
Whereas none in the governing system are seized by it. While giving promised funds to women is laudable, it need not come at a cost of sidelining the matter of cleaning up the justice delivery system.
Perhaps the matter is falling between the two pockets of governance ? Is it the Govt who are responsible ? state or central level? Or the Supreme Court which must gather its Best minds to review what is happening and get together with the legislative arms to put into execution as to what is really needed.
We must keep in mind that the task is not easy. It may take another decade to see a good effect of steps taken today.
But if we begin now, it will be easier to build on it day after day.
Find police reforms in every manifesto of whom we elect. Let us use social media and participate on it to keep the focus on why justice delivery is becoming harder and harder to expect in Independent Bharat ? Why the technology is not being harnessed in this area directly affecting our Betis, Behens and Matas ? Why the best HR practices not deployed to energize the police forces?
Where will this take us socially if the crimes against women keep rising and keep becoming more gruesome day after day ?
It's only the general public that can demand that the media keeps these issues at the forefront of each legislative session, be ut state or central or the Supreme Court of India. Those who are affected need to be supported by solidarity from us, safe from our homes, we can marshal public focus and opinions relentlessly.
We hope and pray that our dear lady President will decide to make a difference so her legacy can be remembered forever.
