It’s been only few years that i have started noticing pigeons. And the more i learned about them the more disturbed i got.

Today what we see as pests, once played big role in human life. History believes that pigeons were first animals/birds that we domesticated. They were brought here for different reasons, one of the reasons were food source. At one point they were great use for human, their droppings were great source of fertilizer, they were great messengers, human used them for long time until different technologies came, and now they are of no use for many people. Therefore we try to wipe them from our world in different ways.

Even today their existence benefits those in pest companies, who make their living by killing them in most horrible ways. Someone informed me that one of the pest companies snap their necks off their bodies, or suffocate them in bags. Spca is well aware of all these cruelty but they remain silent.

Infect all the cruelty against pigeons, all the hate towards pigeons today and all the misconceptions, misinformation against pigeons today comes from SPCA. They could educate people about pigeons instead of posting what only attracts more hate towards them. 
They are the ones constantly scaring public about disease coming from pigeons when the true fact is, a person has higher chance of getting strike by lightning than catching disease from pigeons.

Spca knows very well that pigeons are seeds eater, but they come up with rules and laws which prohibits feeding them. That means they are left in cities to relay on whatever is left over from humans, which could be doritos chips, piece of sandwich, anything they come across to in cities, and that’s their natural findings. And when pigeons don’t get their proper nutrition, clean water they get virus called PMV( paramyxovirus), which is very common virus/infection in pigeons and contiguous to other birds but not humans. Signs include: nervous signs, including trembling wings and heads, and twisting of the neck. partial paralysis of wings and legs (birds may fall over on landing and be unable to feed). Diseases like this could be prevented if they have access to clean seeds and water.

If there are people who are helping these birds in cities by providing them with clean seeds, which may keep them away from human junk and left over, it’s a favour to our nature. 

I am sure the great vets of Spca are aware of all these things but they continue with feeding prohibitions.
