Transgender Support Act - Different bathrooms, right to exist and sports
The Issue
I am writing this petition on behalf of some dear friends who are transgender, I have spoken to them and they gave me approval to write this. They, like many others, contrary to popular opionion are not part of the so-called "woke" mob but ordinary individuals caught in the crossfire of societal debates that have been active, more so within the last five years. These innocent people, who never advocated for controversial issues such as medical transitioning for children, now find themselves facing unjust accusations and backlash, no different to what the individuals who identified as gay or lesbian did so long ago, some of which still do to this day. While one would argue they are not the same sort of issues, I believe it's a precedent over what is now in the news all the time as of writing.
Transgender people exist and deserve to live their lives with dignity and respect. However, they often face baseless accusations of being groomers due to a few isolated incidents, where men pretending to be trans have gained access to women's prisons and have done atrocious acts and children being misdiagnosed as trans are routinely brought up in these debates further amplified in the publication of the Cass Review. This is not only unfair to innocent trans-identified people but also harmful to their mental health.
One way we can support transgender individuals is by upholding their right to legally identify as their chosen gender with a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC). This document should be available without triggering concerns from biological women or anti-trans groups, with a few added measures listed below:
Providing separate bathrooms for trans individuals. This would help avoid unnecessary debates and conflicts while ensuring everyone's comfort and safety, especially women. Gender neutral toilets being allowed are fine, but trans exclusive.
Also a seperate LGBT prison blocks for those who are in prison, away from the gender identity they align with, without segregation being fully implimented such as prison canteen. This will keep prisoners safe, especially in women's prisons for both bio-and-trans, as well as ease tensions.
Lastly, I propose the establishment of sports leagues specifically designed for trans athletes. Such leagues would provide them with an equal opportunity to participate in competitive sports without facing discrimination and rejection from people who worry about physical advantages from biologically assigned males or females at birth.
In conclusion, it's time we took concrete steps towards ensuring that our society respects everyone's gender identity without prejudice or discrimination and also make sure that everyones needs are met and that women can also feel safe. We must remember that every individual deserves equal rights regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. Please sign this petition if you agree that it's time we upheld the rights and dignity of all transgender individuals, and help us reach a good compromise that allows trans identified people to live as they are, whilst also allowing women to feel safe.
A compromise can be reached without, erasing both women's, trans or anyone's rights that have been already implimented and carefully aligned so they don't erode one anothers.
Please sign this petition, and stop the unnecessary hate directed from TRAs, TERFs, where many peoples lives were destroyed for either supporting or being against trans people, even for stuff as trivial as transition. As well, making sure that bridges can be built to ensure a trans persons right to live as they please and no one else feels compelled to change their language.
