The issue

There’s a gap in spaces that feel personal, welcoming, and ready for real connection when families need it most.

"THE NEST"

"A soft place to land for stong connections"

Imagine a vibrant, established home transformed into an art and craft shed in the heart of Trinity Beach — open to all ages, cultures, and walks of life. A place where locals can gather to paint, mould clay, weave, dance, yarn, and connect through hands-on creativity.

This is the heart of The Nest — a warm, welcoming, and non-residential creative community hub led by Which-Way Cultural & Community Care Inc.. Our vision begins with this dedicated space for art, movement, and healing — where creativity becomes connection, and connection becomes belonging.

This isn’t just about workshops. It’s about creating a space thats in an established home and feels like home to every local who walks through its doors — families, children, carers, Elders, youth, and creatives alike.

🪴 What The Nest Will Offer:

  • A large, fully equipped art and craft shed for all ages: painting, weaving, clay, dance, yarning circles & more
  • Workshops led by local artists, Elders, and creatives to build pride, skill, and connection
  • School holiday programs and hands-on activities to engage and inspire local youth
  • Quiet spaces for carers and families to reflect, reset, and reconnect

And gently woven into this space, for those who need it, will be:

  • A warm, home-like setting for supervised family visitation
  • An Office for Emergency Outreach Support, offering mobile assistance to families experiencing hardship or disconnection
  • Opportunities for community learning, storytelling, and mentoring

This is not a housing commission property. It is not a crisis centre.

It is a locally-led, creative sanctuary built on care, craft, and community spirit.

💬 Why Trinity Beach Needs This Now

As a lifelong local, mother of five, foster carer, and community advocate, I’ve witnessed the gaps — and the possibilities. Families are calling for safe spaces to create, express, and grow together. Artists are ready to teach. Carers are looking for connection. Kids just need somewhere to belong.

The Nest answers that call — with a brush, a smile, and an open door.

By signing this petition, you're backing:

  • A safe, home-like, warm, hands-on creative hub for Trinity Beach

  • A legacy project that brings locals together — through art, not red tape

With your signature — and the support of Cairns Regional Council, philanthropic donors, and local grants — we can make The Nest a reality.

This will provide what other community centres can't — a fully equipped, ready-to-use creative space and private, home setting for cultural workshops, last-minute family visitations, and genuine connection. No hire fees. Just a safe, welcoming backyard hub built for healing, creativity, and care.

🧡 Help us create a community space where art leads the way, and care is built into every corner.

Let’s build The Nest together — one brushstroke, one masterpiece, one story, one strong step at a time.
