Transform Palm Grove Cemetery into a Memorial Park

The Issue

I write this petition with a heavy heart, remembering people who were dear to me and were buried in the Palm Grove Cemetery - my late grandfather, Samuel Kwia-Doe Wallace, Sr., my grandmother, Sarah Hnede Wallace, and my aunties, Elizabeth Hnede Wallace and Harriette Bade Wallace. Their graves have been disrespected , destroyed and forgotten due to the current state of the cemetery.

Palm Grove Cemetery between Center and Gurley Streets has unfortunately become a site for dumping trash and criminal hideouts. This place of rest for our loved ones is being desecrated daily. It is time we take action to restore dignity to this sacred ground.

We propose transforming this neglected cemetery into a Memorial Park where a mass grave with a huge headstone can be erected bearing names of all our departed family members. The remaining area can be transformed into an aesthetically environmental-friendly park with beautiful landscapes, sitting areas, trees etc., where people can go to memorialize their loved ones.

This transformation will not only honor those who are laid there but also provide a serene environment for families to remember their loved ones in peace rather than distress.

Let's reclaim Palm Grove Cemetery from its current state of neglect and transform it into something that honors those who rest there. Please sign this petition so that together we can create change that respects our past while looking towards the future.
