The issue

This petition is initiated by Frankston Business Collective, the leading voice for businesses and economic growth in Frankston City.

We are on a precipice of exciting and transformational change in Frankston City. The Nepean Boulevard Precinct Revitalisation is a plan developed by Frankston City Council that promises to inject new life into our beloved city. This is an opportunity to redefine our Nepean Highway. No longer just a concrete corridor, but a lively hub for housing, hospitality, retail, and open social spaces - the remodeled heart of our city centre.

However, this vision cannot materialise without adequate funding and support. Local businesses, residents, and the environment stand to gain tremendously from this transformation. An upgraded boulevard could stimulate economic growth through increased retail and hospitality demand, boost housing development, and provide a revitalised social space for residents and tourists alike.

Therefore, we join Frankston City Council's call for state and federal governments to urgently prioritise funding and support for the transformation of Nepean Highway into a vibrant and people-centric boulevard.

Your support can make a difference!

By signing this petition, you are sending a strong message to decision-makers that Frankston deserves this investment. Together, we can transform Nepean Highway into a world-class boulevard that supports businesses, enhances public spaces, and creates a more vibrant and connected community.

The time is now to build a brighter, bolder Frankston.

Why this project matters

🏙️ Boosting Local Economy & Business Growth:
The project will attract new businesses, support existing ones, and create jobs, driving economic prosperity in Frankston. With over 200 small and medium-sized businesses in the city centre and 30% commercial vacancy along Nepean Highway, now is the time to act!

🚶‍♀️ A Safer, More Accessible Community Space:
The current design prioritises vehicle traffic, leaving little room for pedestrians and cyclists. By improving road safety, expanding green spaces, and upgrading footpaths and cycling connections, we can make Nepean Boulevard a more walkable and welcoming city.

🌊 Enhancing Public Spaces & the Visitor Experience:
As the gateway to Port Phillip Bay and the Mornington Peninsula, Frankston has untapped potential as a premier coastal destination. This revitalisation will enhance the city’s appeal for locals and visitors alike. Making Frankston the destination.

🌱 Sustainability & Wellbeing:
The project will introduce more green spaces, improve active transport connections, and create new recreation opportunities, supporting healthier lifestyles and a greener future for our community.
