The Massachusetts Department of Corrections recently renewed a five year contract with a widely known health care oranization failing thousands of patients across the United States, Wellpath Recovery Solutions.
Wellpath - renamed its self after filing bankruptcy in November 2024 " Recovery Solutions" in an effort to mask a history of massive health care failures including 1400 lawsuits, 70 deaths and thousands of complaints.
The same " Wellpath" executive team remains in place at Bridgewater State Hospital. Only the name changed.

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections would not renew its contract with Wellpath Recovery Solutions for 13 prison locations. This decision was primarily due to the years of medical care failures.
Still the Department of Corrections renewed the contract for Bridgewater State Hospital placing the population in harm's way.
Every day our advocates see profit over care, poor leadership, toxic mold, unsanitary conditions, disorganization and poor training, civil rights violations, illegal restraints and forced medications.
This is all documented in the Massachusetts Disability Law Center monitor reports. Many advocacy organizations have called to transfer Bridgewater State Hospital to the Department of Mental Health including NAMI.
