I have been a resident of Kirk Hallam for many years, and during this time, I have witnessed a troubling pattern at the junction of Ladywood Road, Godfrey Drive, and St Norbert Drive. This area has become a notorious accident hotspot, posing serious risks to drivers and pedestrians alike. The danger here is significant, and action is urgently needed to prevent further accidents and potential fatalities.

The main issue arises when vehicles cross over from Godfrey Drive to St Norbert Drive, often resulting in collisions with vehicles traveling along Ladywood Road. This has already led to numerous accidents, and it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or even killed if nothing changes.

A fixed roundabout &/or traffic light management system at this junction would significantly improve safety.

Roundabouts have been proven to reduce injury crashes by 75% and fatal crashes by 90%, while traffic lights can effectively regulate traffic flow and prevent dangerous crossings. Introducing such measures will bring much needed safety to this busy junction and provide peace of mind to residents and all road users.

The installation of safer road management systems is not just an investment in infrastructure; it is an investment in the safety and well-being of everyone who lives in, works in, and visits Ilkeston. We must urge the local council to prioritise this urgent safety concern and take immediate action.
