Thank you for reaching out and for submitting the online petition regarding traffic safety at the intersections of Nairn Road and Centre Road, and Elginfield Road and Centre Road.
Both intersections fall under the jurisdiction of the County of Middlesex, and traffic control decisions at these locations are within the County’s authority. Section 19.4 of the North Middlesex Council Procedural By-law provides that the Clerk may direct correspondence, including petitions, to the most appropriate administrative process.
At its most recent regular meeting, North Middlesex Council formally considered the safety concerns at these intersections and passed a motion requesting that the County of Middlesex take action to improve traffic safety. As Council has already formally considered this matter and directed staff to advocate to the County, your petition will not be placed as a separate correspondence item on a future North Middlesex Council agenda.
Please be assured, however, that your petition has been received and directly supports Council’s existing direction. I have shared your submission with the relevant municipal staff, and it will be attached to our formal advocacy letter to Middlesex County staff and County Council.
We recognize the seriousness of the traffic safety concerns at these intersections and appreciate residents taking the time to bring their concerns forward. I understand the matter is to be discussed at an upcoming Middlesex County Council meeting, and your petition will be provided to the County Clerk for their review and interpretation regarding inclusion on the County Council agenda for consideration
