Open Letter to Steve Flotteron

Open Letter to Steve Flotteron
The Issue
This letter is in response to Steve Flotteron’s flyer sent to local communities in the Town of Islip during the election for Suffolk County Legislator:
We, as citizens of the 11th Suffolk County Legislative District, reject the ideologies and stand together as one community, who have always worked toward the greater good of its citizens. We reject divisiveness, hatred and bigotry.
It should be noted that according to the Suffolk County Legislator’s website, the responsibilities of legislators do not include any of the promises made on this flyer. Additionally, non-citizens have never had the right to vote, nor are there any historic statues in his legislative district.
The purpose, then, can only mean that the flyer was used to promote general discord, discrimination against immigration and bias against the LGBTQ community. We want Steve Flotteron to understand this does not represent the undersigned residents of the 11th Legislative District, and we hope he will start his legislative career working to unite our communities, rather than divide us.
