Update 5: Conservation Committee Meeting 1/31 @6p!

Important update! The Town Planning Board and Open Space committees have provided their recommendations to the Town Select Board in support of acquiring the land. However, Conservation has not submitted a formal recommendation and meets Monday Jan 31st at 6pm EST. This will be virtual and on Mansfield Cable TV. More information, along with how to register can be found here.
Also, we've heard, from a reliable source within the Town offices, that 2 of the 5 total members of the Select Board have questioned the value of the land to the town. We strongly encourage all supporters to reach out to the board and share why this land is an asset. You will find some points we've shared previously in Update #4.
Final Thoughts:
There's a great opportunity in front of the town of Mansfield and its residents. Over the last decade in Boston, there's been booming economic growth. This has lead to increased development in suburban areas, now fueled further by remote work and the pandemic.
This is where the town Vision, shared here, plays an important role. It outlines the ideal state our community wishes to achieve. And some goals could be accomplished earlier than originally anticipated, bringing in new construction. Which makes it all the more important for the town to preserve what natural resources they can.
Our town is uniquely positioned to benefit from recent growth. As the characteristics of the town are very similar to those experiencing very rapid growth rates. The Mansfield train station provides easy commuting access to/from Boston, acting as an anchor. While the area has also become more of a melting pot, providing an inclusive and welcoming feel. Not to mention, a growing/ improving downtown, historic buildings, business park, close proximity to Providence etc.
There's more that could be listed, but we'd be remiss not to acknowledge that our green space has become an increasingly valuable asset. For trails, for community gathering, for the preservation of natural resources etc. And for many, it's exactly the reason they're choosing to come here.
Thank you for your support and please continue to encourage others to speak up.
