Stop the loss of community land and recreation facilities - get your submission in to the Town of Walkerville before the 16th October
A booked out Community Forum on the 15th September heard a strong message that the community land status should stay for the Walkerville Y site and that the deep uncertainty and secrecy of council processes has eroded trust from the community. Council have refused to conduct a public consultation session as part of the revocation process. Don't let the council close community facilities, be active in your community. Get your submission in before the 16th October to walkerville@walkerville.sa.gov.au with the subject title '39 Smith - Revocation of Community Land Classification'. Have your say and stop the loss of community land and recreation facilities.

The community land revocation must be approved by the Minister for Planning & Local Government Vicki Chapman. Write to her office at DPTI.OfficeofLocalGovernment@sa.gov.au and explain why it is important to you that she not approve the revocation of community land at 39 Smith St Walkerville by the Town of Walkerville.
Contact the Sports Minister Corey Wingard at ministerwingard@sa.gov.au to explain why there is a lack of alternate facilities if the Town of Walkerville closes this facility. Commercial 24/7 gyms don't provide tailored and affordable Strength For Life programs or community based group fitness classes. The nearest alternate permanent gymnastics facilities are at Tea Tree Gully, Rosewater or Henley Beach. What parents can travel these distances after school to continue their children's gymnastics programs? Our special needs gymnastics and vacation care programs don't exist elsewhere.
Write to the the local MP Rachel Sanderson at adelaide@parliament.sa.gov.au and ask if her 'best efforts' have been enough to save community recreation facilities and why is she repeating council misinformation in her speeches to the Parliament (Address to Parliament) when the community needs advocacy to stop the loss of community land and recreation facilities.
