Dear Supporters,
Tower Hamlets Council have now received a planning application from the property developers Resolution which includes proposals for the demolition of the Spiegelhalter facade and its replacement with a glass lobby with metal walls.
This is the most critical moment in our campaign. The future of this plucky East End landmark depends on making our voices heard.
Please please please spend a few minutes registering your objection to the plan. This link takes you straight to the relevant Tower Hamlets Council Planning Department's page:
http://planreg.towerhamlets.gov.uk/WAM/createComment.do;jsessionid=8074506D2987881ADED24B34E493B3B6?action=CreateApplicationComment&applicationType=PLANNING&appNumber=PA/14/03547
We now have more than 2,500 signatures and hundreds of eloquent comments, which I am forwarding to the Council. But this won't be enough in itself - we need to record our objections (and comments) on the Council website, and we need to do so quickly. There's a two-week window to do so (although this may be extended). Time is not on our side!
I'll blog about this in more detail so you can get a complete picture of what the developers want to do. But for now - please spread the word!
All good wishes and thank you for you continuing support.
David
