Tory Government: Scrap Universal Credit helpline telephone charges

The Issue

Many people across the United Kingdom rely on our benefits system, a system in place to help those in our society who are most in need of financial support.

Unfortunately, the Department of Work and Pensions currently led by Conservative MP David Gauke forces Universal Credit claimants to call a helpline which can cost up to 55p per minute.  The same costly helpline is used for people to request information in other formats such as braille or on audio CCTV etc

The Conservative Government wish people to claim online as it is easier & cheaper for the DWP but the focus here should be on what is easier for those in need rather than the Government.

This petition calls for call charges to be scraped immediately.
