Over the last week, we have met again with Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio. We have also met separately with Toowoomba North State MP, Trevor Watts and Groom Federal MP, John McVeigh.
We learnt that DHA and TRC and McVeigh met last week to discuss 'alternative proposals' for the Mt Lofty development.
On 24 January 2020, John McVeigh called on DHA and TRC to “consider alternative proposals quickly” – whatever that means. We are due to meet John McVeigh again on 3 February 2020.
On 31 January 2020, Save Mt Lofty emailed DHA seeking direct consultations with Mt Lofty residents on any alternative proposals for the site.
In 31 January 2020, Save Mt Lofty lodged a Toowoomba Region submission with the State Government's Draft Koala Conservation Strategy - kindly supported by the Darling Downs Environment Council.
Plans continue apace for our Toowoomba Escarpment Bushfire Public Forum to be held at the Toowoomba TAFE on Wednesday, 12 February 2020 from 6pm - 8pm. Seating may be limited so BIG TIP - get there early! Local MPs, Councillors and DHA will be invited. The forum will also be live-streamed on the Save Mt Lofty Inc Facebook Live.
