PROTECT NL has been asked to launch an online petition for the many people who could not sign our provincial petition that went to the House of Assembly. Presented by MHA Paul Lane. 

WE ARE LISTENING AND HERE IS YOUR CHANCE. 

THIS IS A NATIONAL ELECTRONIC PETITION THAT CAN BE USED TO APPLY PRESSURE ON OUR GOVERNMENT.

OUR REQUEST: The Government Of Newfoundland & Labrador must take a six-month pause to allow the public sufficient time to initiate an independent inquiry of experts to assist with scrutiny of the over 4000 page Environmental Impact Statement released by World Energy GH2, to address serious concerns that include, but not limited to, water, health, wildlife, fishery, tourism, land rehabilitation and decommissioning.


If you have any of these questions, please consider signing our petition:

• How will all these wind energy projects affect our electrical bills?
• How will all these projects affect our fresh water supply?
• How will all these projects affect our fishery and other marine life?
• How will these projects affect our ability to hunt and subsidize our food?
• How does a wind farm affect the health of residents?
• What are the dangers associated with Hydrogen Ammonia Plants?
• Where is the money coming from to clean up the wind farms when the projects are completed?
• These are only some of the many questions and concerns that we need time for answers. In this case, our petition is asking for 6 months.
   

We need to harness the power of the people and we are attempting to do this in this current e-petition.

BACKGROUND

PROTECT NL (formarly known as Southwest Coast Alliance) was formed August 2023 in direct response to our government’s mad dash in the pursuit of green energy, which many have termed "greed" energy. The current wind energy projects on the table, specifically World Energy GH2, is asking too much sacrifice for a Boom & Bust economy. We are sacrificing our land, our wildlife, our water, our health, our tourism, our fishery. 

World Energy GH2 released a 4000+ page Environmental Impact Statement and the public was given 50 days to review. "In the spirit of fairness" our government has granted a short delay.

While much of our focus has been on World Energy GH2, many of us are very concerned about the full scope of wind energy projects proposed for our province. Each project must have its own independent study.

Many still have questions and concerns about the proposed deal on the table and we are not getting answers from our Liberal Government.  Even with this delay the public have lost trust. 

* Please note, while electronic signatures cannot be presented in the House of Assembly our hope is to continue to apply public pressure to achieve our goals, which is a 6 month pause on these projects. We must not sacrifice our people or our natural resources for a quick profit. We cannot replace one resource for another.
