STOP cuts to pensioner concessions for council rates in South Australia

The issue

In June 2014 the Federal Government cut State Government funding for pensioner concessions that allowed a reduction in council rates for pensioners.

The State Government funded concessions on Council rates during 2014/15, but will now cut concessions on council rates from 1 July 2015.

For the average pensioner, the loss of the concession represents around 20% increase in their rates.

By supporting this petition, you can show Tony Abbott and Jay Weatherill that

  1. Our community supports concessions to pensioners.
  2. We recognise their contribution to our country and prosperity.
  3. Cutting concessions is unfair.

Pensioners experience significant cost of living pressure and can least afford the additional cost; why are they being targeted?
