Stop Dog Auctions

The Issue

The USDA regulates commercial dog breeders and allows dogs to be sold at auctions like livestock. Dog auctions support puppy mills and contribute to the abuse and overpopulation of dogs. They are sold into a life of over-breeding and containment in cages. Rescue organizations feel compelled to go to these auctions and bid high to rescue as many dogs as they can, which increases the profits for the breeders. Putting a stop to dog auctions will help to shut down puppy mills and improve animal welfare.
