Schools for Climate Action
Sep 11, 2018

Hi All,

We just learned that the Pajaro Valley Unified School District has become the 24th school board to pass a climate action resolution. Thank you, Superintendent Rodriguez and the PVUSD trustees for breaking the silence about climate change as a "children's issue".

Youth advocates from Regeneracion Pajaro Valley played a lead role in bringing this resolution to the PVUSD school board. Congratulations on moving your school leaders to speak up for your generation.

As more and more school boards speak up, the educational sector will help move Congress to act. Your local and county school boards could be next!

We know that Congressional inaction on climate change contributes to potentially traumatic conditions for millions of American children each year. We know this number is expected to increase if our federal government and Congress stay on their current course of climate neglect.

Silence by school board members (the only elected officials with a singular focus on the well-being of children) is only becoming more and more untenable. The silence is corrosive to our institutional integrity. We are mandated reporters. The sooner we speak up with one voice, the more we can help limit the harm. Delay only increases the risk and the harm to our students.

Thank you Pajaro Valley USD and Regeneracion Pajaro Valley for leading the way. Please join them CA Board of Education, California School Boards Association, and National School Boards Association.

Campaign supporters, please continue spreading the word!

Also, please visit www.schoolsforclimateaction.org to download emails and board meeting statements you can use to empower your own school board to speak up for climate action.

Thanks,

Park
