Together for a Safer Jane and Finch: Invest in Our Youth
The Issue
Imagine a Jane and Finch where every young person feels safe, supported, and hopeful about their future. A community where youth have access to positive opportunities, trusted mentors, and safe spaces to learn, grow, and connect with others.
This is the kind of community we want to help build.
Community safety is an important issue in Jane and Finch, and it affects everyone who calls this neighbourhood home. While safety concerns can be challenging, we believe that creating a safer community starts with supporting our young people and making sure they have the resources they need to succeed.
Youth violence prevention is about more than responding to problems after they happen. It is about creating opportunities, building relationships, and making sure young people know they have people and services they can turn to. Community outreach workers, mentorship programs, and accessible youth activities can help young people feel connected, supported, and valued.
The impact of these programs can already be seen in our community. According to the Jane/Finch Centre’s 2025–2026 Annual Report, 95.8% of surveyed participants in its Youth Violence Prevention Program reported being better able to avoid situations that could lead to violence. This shows how important it is to continue investing in programs that support and empower our young people.
We are calling on the City of Toronto to increase and maintain funding for youth violence prevention and community outreach programs in Jane and Finch. This includes more community outreach workers, free youth programs, mentorship opportunities, and accessible mental health support.
By signing this petition, you are helping us call for positive change. You are showing that our young people matter, that our community deserves investment, and that everyone has a role in building a safer future.
Together, we can help create a Jane and Finch where young people feel supported, families feel connected, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
