On November 22nd 2015 I, like most of you, logged on to facebook to see the plans for the Love Street project in our Inlet District. Alarmed and wanting to do then just complain about it on facebook I started the Love Street Project petition on change.org. Then something wonderful happened. You all started sharing it with your friends and they shared it with their friends and in a moment we created a movement!! We started to come together to fight the nonsensical over development in our town! We started to attend town council meetings, voicing our concerns, meeting with staff and our elected officials, all in an effort to take back our town from big money developers and special interests. We banded together like never before. We made new friends and met our neighbors. Today we are still fighting the fight. We can change the direction in which our town has been moving. It will be hard. We are up against some people with deep pockets and as we all know money talks.well at least that is what they tell anyways. But it doesn't have to be that way. They may have money but we have the power of our vote. This coming March, just 3 short months from now, we will have a small municipal election for two seats on our Town Council. Ron Delaney is running to retain his seat, from District 2, and I am endorsing him. He stood strong in the face of great pressure and actually voted AGAINST the Love Street Project. The other seat, from District 1, is currently held by Wayne Posner. Who, as we know know, vote FOR the Love Street Project. I recently announced that I will be running for that District 1 seat. This campaign is not about me but about us. What we want for our town. For our Lives. We came together for one purpose. Do you think we can come together for another? We will need all the help that we can get to get the word out and raise the money need to get our voices heard. During the past 12 months so many of the people that I have met have voice their concerns that they feel that they have not been represented the majority of the Town Council and that their voices are not being heard. Well I heard you. I am you. I know your concerns because they are my concerns too. The campaign is just getting started. I have launched my facebook page (where most of us met each other) Teri Grooms for Jupiter Town Council and will soon launch a website that will help keep everyone informed about the campaign and the issues of our town. When you have a moment please like the facebook page. As we move down the road we will have some campaign events so that we can get together and discuss our concerns and how we can better effect change in our community. Thank your your time and for your support for the Stop the Love Street Project petition,
