Read the letters at the following link: http://causes.worldpeacemeet.com/causes/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Publix-Responses.pdf The first response comes from the "Executive Office Specialist" named Patrick with no last name, speaking as an administrative supporter. Patrick sends out a generated response while claiming the domestic rabbit meat product is only available in stores where it has been highly requested (at $17.99 for one rabbit). He goes on to say their suppliers maintain the highest and most ethical standards in the business. This statement does not correspond with the photos of several rabbits crammed in small hanging cages climbing on top of each other in outdoor housing where temperatures are hot and humid. Housing where feces, urine and worms are seen and described laying below the rabbits caging, posted by the Publix supplier on Facebook and other websites. Next you will find a response from the "Business Development Director of Meat/Seafood, Mr. Bill Booth. Mr. Booth also blames customers for their unethical choice to carry pet domestic rabbit meat in their freezer. Perhaps Mr. Booth would consider placing tame pet cats and dogs in the Publix freezer per customer request after they were being inhumanely slaughtered at 8 - 12 weeks of age having spent their short lives in small crowded cages never walking, playing or running? Mr. Booth states the rabbits are sourced from a small group of family farmers employing the best farming practices, but does not share those practices of how the rabbits live and die. He goes even further to say that the breeds used in farming are not typically the same used as pets. This is another misconception and blatant lie, the rabbits raised on the farm they are buying from (as well as any farm) are the same exact tame pet rabbits we all own and love, rabbits that live in our homes that are born tame pets no matter where they are born or forced to breed over and over until no longer needed. No Mr. Booth, sadly you have not eased our concerns, you have only disgusted us further because you have no consideration for the complaints from loyal customers who have more than likely spent thousands more dollars in your store than any person buying a tame pet rabbit to eat for $17.99. Concerns from 63 thousand people to date. Publix spokespersons have only made excuses for their unethical choice of selling pet domestic rabbit meat, which clearly shows no concern of how the rabbits live or die before they get to the Publix freezer, concerns that Whole Foods Stores cared about.
