Now move on to Read the Petition…
Respected Sir,
It was Every Aspirants childhood ambition to write the civil service exam and serve the country and the people. The whole Group 1 examination has been conducted only thrice in the period of six years from April 2018 -April 2024.
The Group 1 exam has been held only 13 times in the last 25 years. This shows that the Group 1 examination was not held at the proper time interval.
"It's different to write an exam and fail. Is it fair to be kicked out without appearing in the exam?"
Due to the present examination procedure, many aspirants have lost the opportunity to write the examination.
Due to this, many people who want to serve the country and the people of the country disappear with the wind. This is a disaster for the country and its people.
This forced the nation into the predicament of not being able to utilize the best human resources properly due to the Tnpsc Group 1 exam process and now it is the duty of the nation to utilize the committed human resources. As age increases, a person’s maturity level improves, especially the ability to face a situation, patience and responsibility. Such are the characteristics that can be most helpful for human resource management. Therefore
- We humbly request that TNPSC Group-1 examination should be conducted annually.
At present the maximum age limit for Group 1 examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Service Selection Commission (TNPSC) is 39(37 + 2) for Backward, Most Backward, Adi Dravidian and Tribal (SC / ST / BC / MBC) categories and 34 (32 + 2) for General category.
For the last 6 years, Group 1 examination has not been held at regular intervals.
It takes at least two to three years for an exam result to come out. Vacancies were also low in single and double digits making age limit a big issue for thousands of aspirants.
After the establishment of the DMK government, a government order (G.O.144 Dt. 18.10.2021) has been issued to raise the age limit for the competitive examination (TRB Exam) from 40 to 45 in the school education department. (For General Category).. For Reservation Category(SC / ST / BC / MBC ) age is increased to 50 years.
Second time again The Dravida Model Government increased TRB Exam age limit for General - 53, Reservation Category-58.
But this demand in TNPSC has not been fulfilled till now. Therefore, considering the future of aspirants writing the Group 1 examination, we humbly request that the maximum age limit for the Group 1 examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission under the control of the Human Resource Management Minister Mrs. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj be increased to 44 for the General Category (49 for the reserved category (SC / ST / BC / MBC)) as given for the TRB Exam.
The age limit for TRB exam has been raised twice after the establishment of Dravida Model Government led by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin.
2000-2024 Period:
In the last 25 years, TNPSC Group 1 exam has been conducted only 13 times. (This is an example of exam not being held at regular intervals).
It takes at least two-three years to conduct an exam. Due to this many aspirants lose the opportunity to write the exam.
It is worth recalling here that in 2006-2007, the then DMK leader Kalaignar Karunanidhi raised the age limit for the Group 1 examination to 40 and maintained social justice equality. It was later withdrawn in July 2011.
On that day:
The Honorable Chief Minister of the day, Mr. Kalainar, fulfilled the request of the Group1 Aspirants.
Today:
Will Son of Great Visionary Leader Dr. Kalaignar raise the age limit for the long standing request of Group 1 Exam???
We hope that Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu will increase the age limit of Group 1 examination and add glory to his father's name as if the mother can jump eight feet then the child can jump sixteen feet.
Why we need to raise the age limit?
- Society is not equal. Society is divided between the poor and the rich and those who have access to the city and those who do not.
- TNPSC Group 1 Exam is not held every year.
- An exam takes at least two-three years to complete.
- It is wrong to compare it with UPSC exam pattern. Exam is conducted by UPSC regularly every year.
- The age limit for Group 1 examination should be raised as it was raised by the government led by the then Honorable Chief Minister Kalaignar in July 2006 by a G.O.
- As in the following Table 1, Various states of India have fixed the age limit for Group 1 examination so as not to miss out on the best human resources while selecting civil servants
Age Limit for Group 1 Examination: (Table 1)
Age limit for General Category for Group 1 Examination in other states in India. ( + For reserved category )
1. Telangana - 46 (+5)
2. Andhra Pradesh - 42 (+5)
3. Haryana - 42 (+5)
4. Uttarakhand - 42 (+5)
5. Rajasthan - 40 (+5)
6. Madhya Pradesh - 40 (+5)
7. Uttar Pradesh - 40 (+5)
8. Assam - 38 (+5)
9. Chhattisgarh - 38 (+5)
10. Maharashtra - 38 (+5)
11. Punjab - 37 ( +5)
12. Tamil Nadu - 34 (+5)
The above table shows that many states in India do not consider age as a barrier to getting better human resources. Tamil Nadu and the people of Tamil Nadu should get better human resources. therefore
- We humbly request you to issue G.O for raising the age limit for Group 1 examination.
We humbly request you to suggest our demands to the attention of the Dravidian Model Government headed by Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to take a Policy Decision in this regard.
Raise the age limit for Group 1 examination to protect the interests of aspirants who are belongs to marginal rural society and women who cannot access cities/private institutes for training.
It is a matter of policy decision. This will create opportunity for all social groups (Both General and Reservation Category will be benefited).
The Dravidian model of governance- should be a Role Model to other states. We have long 100 years of history since Justice Party which established first public service commission in India. But compared to many other states, Tamil Nadu is lagging behind in the Group 1 exam process.
We strongly believe that the Dravidian Model of Governance is about creating widespread opportunities.
Approached with Dr.Kalaignar’s heart and leadership, the solution can be beneficial to all communities.( Both Reservation and General Category).
We humbly request the Dravidian model regime which has promoted the mantra of 'everything for all' to raise the age limit for TNPSC Group 1 exam to create an opportunity for all.
From a social justice point of view…
This policy decision will be a historic high-profile Policy Decision that will create opportunities for women, rural and marginalized aspirants.
In The Long Run, it will lead to huge Social Change ( it will be a Silent Revolution to Uplift downtrodden , marginalized, women and rural society.
Help the #IncreaseGroup1Age movement to be succeed.
