We, the undersigned, prevail upon you to refer the Kent and Medway stroke decision back to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care at the earliest opportunity.

The decision to reduce the six stroke units in Kent and Medway to just three units will put undue pressure on our hospitals, create congestion on our roads and increase death and disability in the poorest parts of our county. Medway Council is referring the decision back; if Kent County Council did the same, the Secretary of State would have to listen to our concerns. This approach has proven successful in other parts of the country.
