The town of Wetherby is located in the West Yorkshire region and is home to a population, at the 2021 census, of 11,712 and is home to many independent and chain businesses. 

Nationally, since the pandemic, the high street has taken a hit with many businesses folding and buildings sitting empty - while the national government Raves about the northern power house, this is often focused upon the big cities, namely, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool with the town in the suburbs (that often offer a boost to the tourist industry) not seeing anything 

This petition is to appeal to the West Yorkshire combined authority, the West Yorkshire Mayor, WY Metro and National rail to seriously consider granting the town of Wetherby a rail station, therefore linking the town to the bigger network of towns and cities - this will benefit the local economy and also the environment by reducing traffic on the roads etc etc

Wetherby has an array of independent businesses - yet is served by a shabby out of date "shed" that serves as the public transport hub 

We need to invest in our towns and rejuvenate the high street so businesses and communities can thrive and everyone can experience what Wetherby has to offer the region
