To allow commercial dog walkers permission to recommence walking on yorkshire show ground

The Issue

Following the decision of the Yorkshire Show Ground / Yorkshire Agricultural Society to display signs around the Harrogate show ground stating that commercial dog walking is not permitted, this is a petition to request the Yorkshire Show Ground / Yorkshire Agricultural Society reverse their decision.      The undersigned, knowing that commercial dog walkers provide a valuable service to the local community, request the removal of the signs which state that commercial dog walking is not permitted, and for commercial dog walkers to be given permission to recommence walking on Yorkshire Show Ground land.   We are reaching out to ask for your support in opposing the decision to ban commercial dog walkers from Great Yorkshire Show Showground. This area is unmatched locally for safety and enrichment, providing a vital space for dogs to exercise, socialise, and thrive. Socialisation is crucial for the well-being of all dogs in Harrogate, and restricting access will negatively impact both pets and owners.

Professional dog walkers provide a vital service, ensuring that pets receive the exercise and care they need while their owners work or have other commitments. Many of us have built our businesses and livelihoods around providing safe, responsible, and community-minded dog walking services. The ban not only threatens our ability to work but also forces dog owners to find alternative, often less suitable, solutions for their pets.

Additionally, professional dog walkers are highly trained, including in canine first aid, and are a great asset to the dog walking community. This space has long been a shared community asset, used respectfully by professional dog walkers, families, and other visitors.
