This week, Tennessee Senate Republicans issued a letter to multiple chancellors and presidents of colleges across the state, discouraging student athletes from kneeling during the national anthem at games. The Republican Senators asked University chancellors and presidents to “adopt policies within your respective athletic departments to prohibit any such actions moving forward”

Colin Kaepernick began kneeling as a protest against police brutality in America. Now other players and entire teams (from college level to professional) are protesting racial inequality and injustice that still exists in our country today.

 We want to stand behind our Tennessee athletes and support their right to protest police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem.  These student athletes deserve every right to peacefully protest police brutality seen in this country.
